Baptisms

Baptisms, Dedications and Christenings

In many different cultures, there are rituals where the people gather to bless a child and celebrate his or her new life.

These can be Baptisms, Dedications, Christenings and Thanksgiving ceremonies.

In the Christian tradition, we celebrate the birth of a child through baptism. It’s a formal welcome into the Christian church and a commitment to the Christian faith. We follow the words of Jesus to his disciples, when he called for the children, blessed them and said:

‘Let the children come to me; do not try to stop them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Truly I tell you: whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.’

Luke 18:16-17

Adult Baptism

Some people have not been baptised as children and when they become an adult, they  would like to make this commitment to Jesus and get baptised. If you are interested in an adult baptism, we would be delighted to explore this with you. If you are not already a member of our church, please come along to our Sunday service so that we can meet and then we can help organise this with you.
