Community Activities at Mairangi Bay Presbyterian Church
The church provides a number of community services, including English language speaking opportunities, dementia support, collections for the food bank, and preschool music.
The church hall and meeting rooms are also available for regular or one off rental. The church’s frequent usage aligns with our desire to foster community involvement and play an active part in supporting the Mairangi Bay community. A selection of the main community groups currently using our premises with some information on when they meet follows.
Community Emergency Hub
Following the January 2023 floods the Auckland Council encouraged local communities to set up organisations to provide assistance to the public when disasters occur.
Our church volunteered to become an Emergency Hub and we have the volunteers, the facilities, the supplies and equipment to be able to provide the care that will be needed for those who are forced to leave their homes.
The Mid Bays Resilient Communities steering group meets in the church and are a Community Emergency Hub for all members of the community who may have to leave their homes in an emergency.
